Boasting a spa, conference facilities, a restaurant and a Skybar – Clarion's Draken hotel is a new icon in Gothenburg. If the onsite facilities weren't enough, the hotel sits next door to Draken Live – a vibrant cultural space for both guests and locals.
At 34 storeys, it comes as no surprise that elevators play an integral part to every visitor's stay – and turning vertical transport into an informative and enjoyable journey is key to ensuring customer satisfaction.
Designed to carefully reflect the interior decor of the hotel, each ride makes an active contribution to the visitor's hotel experience – communicating information quickly and easily, and allowing for smooth, human-centred movement around the building.
Well-functioning and fast elevators at the hotel were crucial. But it was equally important that the elevators visually reflected the entire design philosophy of the hotel and became an integral part of the experience. KONE fully understood our vision and delivered solutions that perfectly matched our wishes. Clarion Hotel Draken was an exciting project that required unique and customized solutions that were part of a larger vision, both functionally and design-wise. We are incredibly proud of the end result. The elevators have a high capacity and can efficiently handle the hotel's many guests while contributing to the desired visual user experience.

Through close collaboration between KONE and Clarion, a solution for the elevators in the new hotel was conceived. Taking into account the customer's requirements meant combining demands for both performance and aesthetics. The key was ensuring that elevators enhanced the visitor experience – but also that they made a contribution to the building's architectural expression.
As a result, eight specially designed lifts show how refined design expression can go hand in hand with high functionality and safety. The solution optimizes daily operations, user-friendliness, and the overall guest experience.
Two panoramic glass elevators offer a taste of the views from the upper floors, where Brasserie Draken, the Skybar, and the state-of-the-art conference rooms are located. Six custom-made elevators with copper-colored elevator cars blend perfectly into the hotel's design expression and make the journey between floors a pleasing visual experience for overnight guests. In addition, two dedicated service elevators ensure discreet and efficient logistics for staff between floors, supporting the hotel's operations without disrupting guests.
