COMMITTING TO A LOW CARBON FUTURE

The Trade and Industry Tower in the Kai Tak Development Area is a prominent green building that consists of government offices and a community hall. In line with the “Green City” concept, emphasis of the building design will be placed on energy conservation and greening. Thanks to the power efficiency of KONE MonoSpace® featuring regenerative power use, substantial energy saving is achieved. This green equipment, along with a series of renewable energy technologies, is incorporated in this 23-storey government office building.

Description

A project enhancement was made to the elevator design, in which to adopt KONE Machine-Room-Less technology for the 18 elevators at the speed of 3.0 m/s so as to eliminate the construction of traditional elevator machine room. This brings the added values to the users with more spacious design and better energy performance. At the same time, these values also save time and capital investment. All the attributes pursue the contemporary concept of “Green City”.

  • Efficient Space Use – By eliminating the need of lift machine room, the spared space originally reserved for machine room can be turned to other potential use
  • Cost Saving – Some elevators in the original plan are designed as side-mounted machine, which imposes unbalanced loading to the building structure, thus demanding special structural reinforcement and a complicated installation.
